Video: Phoenix- 1901 Bo Flex’d (Passion Pit Remix)
I was looking up other new music when I stumbled on this one:
1901 is forever-old at this point but this remix was released about a week ago. I’m a huge fan of the music by Phoenix and I am always excited to see what they come up with next and who they inspire- imagine the sounds coming out influenced by this in the next 10 years!
Also- I have to say that I love Passion Pits sound too. They remind me of a road trip to Seattle I took when I was 21 with Allison, a girl I was dating at the time. We went to her cousin’s house and he had all this mixing gear in their apartment by University Bridge. It just has that ‘fresh and living” sound to it…
Video: The White Panda – What You Know About Little Secrets (T.I. vs. Passion Pit)
It’s new so it doesn’t have an official music video yet, but it sounds good and I’m sure it will find good visuals soon. I love it when you have genres collaborating together.
Video: Skinny Dippin by Whitney Duncan
Let me start by saying “I don’t really like this song that much.” It’s OK, but it doesn’t strike me as anything special or particularly significant. My email is down and I got distracted by Facebook when I saw a friend from back home posted this song. all I could think was “Fuck! Have I been in the city THAT long or is she really singing that sloooooowwwwww?!” I grew up in an area where “face paced” meant you did three things in one day; now I live in a city where we have our own internationally recognized length of time that is different than any other city in the world (of course I am speaking of the New York Minute).
It is nice to think about home. I want to visit my friends and family soon. But this also reminded me that I enjoy the faster pace of NY. I like doing 3 things in one minute. I heard someone say “living three years in NY is like living 15 years anywhere else in the world.” I can already see that as pretty true… and now I realize I can happily live at least another 200 years.
Cymbals Eat Guitars: Wind Phoenix (Live on KEXP)
A 2nd video for Monday… This last week was pretty strange with the deaths of Neda, Farrah, Ed, Michael, Billy… we need to get it together and move forward to make this a happier place.
Dear Apple and iTunes
I know that your boss has been out of the office due to his illness but please take note of two observations I have made.
#1) You have Michael Jackson listed as dying on May 25th, 2009. It is actually June 25th, 2009. Please advise.
#2) I was going to use the Grab feature to create a screen capture of the aforementioned error to send you however you had erased the Grab application from Apple computers with your latest update. Please return the features that came with our Apple’s when we purchased them.
Sincerely,
Cool Mike
Journey: Don’t Stop Believing
Fact #1: The average American will hear this song 7,600 times in their lifetime in the form of movie soundtracks, background music, radio, blasting from someone else’s car or elsewhere.
M83: Teen Angst
The song fro the Chanel video was bothering me… I knew I had it on my iTunes SOMEWHERE and finally found it. Here is the video. Enjoy the sounds of M83…
Battles: Atlas
Awesome sound. I wonder if the TV show “Lie to Me” was inspired by this video to create that interrogation room. And I have to wonder if Battles were inspired by Marilyn Manson (anyone else hear “The Beautiful People” rolling through this? Either way- it is catchy and totally RadBallz.
Just to help you along, the beginning words are “People won’t be people when they hear this sound…” very cool song.
